DP William Ruto Warned of What May Cost Him 2022 Presidency

Political analyst Tony Gachoka on Wednesday warned Deputy President William Ruto against riding the "hustler" tagline as his flagship agenda ahead of the 2022 elections.

Gachoka, a former aide of NASA leader Raila Odinga indicated that although the DP has a good chance, his advisors should be cautious not to mislead him to ride on the hustler wave.

Speaking on Citizen TV, Gachoka stated that "the advisors of the DP should be very careful not advise him on these politics of hustler versus the entitled."

"Let us talk about the content of the character of people and not where people were born. We need not group people but ideas and the ability of people to deliver.

"Let's look at Gideon's (Moi) achievements or failures on the basis of the work he has done or not done. But you cannot condemn somebody because he was born somewhere," he stated.

This appeared to be a response to Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who had slammed Baringo Senator Gideon Moi for what he termed as lurking under the shadow of this father.

Gachoka further indicated that DP Ruto should be wary of the recent meeting between Odinga and former President Daniel Moi noting: "Something here is happening, be careful. You can't ignore and think it was just a cup of tea."

"Let me say this, for DP, with the absence of Odinga as an enemy, he has to restrategize. It doesn't mean he is weaker, but certainly, Raila is in the room.

"I think the DP's advisors are making a mistake, they are running as if the election is tomorrow. This game of talking about 2022 too early is going to be one of the chilly hills that will come to haunt DP and his supporters," Gachoka concluded.

On 2022 voting pattern, Gachoka opined: "It is too early to say who between DP Ruto and Raila Odinga has the Central Kenya vote. At this point, that vote is not assured for anybody."
