Senator Kipchumba Murkomen Attacks Gideon Moi

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has attacked his Baringo counterpart Gideon Moi over what he termed as lurking under the shadow of his father.

Speaking at the thanksgiving ceremony of Bureti Member of Parliament (MP) Japhet Kiptergech in Kapkatet, Kericho County, Murkomen did not mince his words as he told off the son of former President Daniel Moi.

Murkomen who was in the company of Deputy President William Ruto opined that Gideon was trying to ride his father's name to rise to the presidency.

"Kuna wengine ata hawajajenga choo, wakiulizwa unafanya kazi gani wanasema baba yangu alifanya. (Some leaders have very little to show. If you ask them what their achievement is they will refer you to what their father achieved,)" Murkomen stated.

"Hatupigii kura baba yako tunapigia wewe kura. Lazima uanze mahali. (We are not voting-in your father. You must carve out your own path,)" the senator advised.

The Elgeyo Marakwet Member of Parliament (MP) indicated that Ruto would head to the helm come 2022 despite his poor background.

According to Murkomen, they would embark on ensuring the DP's victory in coming elections by delivering the Jubilee government's development agenda.

The remarks by the Senator came shortly after speculations arose following a meeting between the Moi's and NASA leader Raila Odinga.

A section of Kenyans was for the opinion that the meeting may have been a possible strategy towards 2022 succession politics.
