National Police Service Comments on Video Involving Kirinyaga Deputy Governor

The National Police Service (NPS) has on Wednesday denied claims that the video of Kirinyaga Deputy Governor Peter Ndambiri being shared on social media platforms has been reported to them.

Posting on their social media pages, the NPS asserted that the video is strange to them as is the alleged statement that it is in their possession.

"Police have not received any report concerning an alleged assault of the Deputy Governor of Kirinyaga County, in Kakamega

"Equally the Police Spokesperson has not issued any statement concerning the same. The video and the statement circulating in sections of the social media on the same issue is strange to the Police," the officers noted.

Police further stated that investigations are underway on the video to facilitate the arrest of the people involved.

"Investigations are underway to arrest the author and present him/her before a court," read the statement by the police.

The video shows the deputy governor being assaulted by several men, for allegedly sleeping with a woman claimed to be married

However, unconfirmed reports claim that the woman together with her accomplice in the video may have conned the deputy governor.

Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) boss Ezekiel Mutua on Wednesday defended the Deputy Governor declaring, "In my view, the invasion and primitive harassment of a couple in private, whatever their sin or crime, is the evidence of how low we have sunk as a society. "

Governors and their deputies are currently in Kakamega for the devolution conference.

There can be no justification for invading the privacy of two consenting adults and harassing them in the manner in the alleged Kirinyanga DG video. It's barbaric, outrageous and a violation of human rights. @InfoKfcb @HakiKNCHR
