You Should Have Fought Back - MPs Tell Kirinyaga Deputy Gov

Members of Parliment led by Majority deputy Whip Cecily Mbarire on Wednesday told Kirinyaga Deputy Governor Peter Ndambiri that he should have fought back the people recording him after allegedly being caught with someone’s wife.

“It should be known whether it is a matter of a leader who has played around with his integrity or a matter of extortionists,” Mbarire stated.

"I felt that he should have fought back because that’s what a man does especially when you know your family is at stake and your leadership is at stake,” she added.

The National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale added his voice to the matter stating that maybe Ndambiri would have saved himself the humiliation had he put two padlocks on his hotel room door.

Legislators on Wednesday spent the better part of the afternoon debating the video - allegedly of Ndambiri caught pants down with another man’s wife that went viral on Tuesday.

Duale was to move a motion of adjournment but started the debate that was not taken lightly by some MPs from the "Mulembe community".

The Garissa Township lawmaker called on Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya to ensure the safety and privacy of leaders attending the devolution conference.

"I even told my governor, deputy governor and MCAs not to spend another night there because that is a dangerous part of Kenya. You must ensure you have two padlocks to your room,” Duale remarked.

Police are investigating the Kirinyaga deputy governor’s claims that he was a victim of an extortion gang that has exposed him to public ridicule.

The deputy governor recorded a statement at Thika police station on Wednesday night where he claimed that he was a victim of a set-up meant to embarrass him.
