DP William Ruto's Advice After Kirinyaga Deputy Governor's Saga

There was a light moment at the Devolution Conference 2018 as Deputy President William Ruto revisited Kirinyaga Deputy Governor's saga.

Giving a keynote address on Thursday, Ruto appealed to the Governors to ensure that their deputies were meaningfully engaged to prevent such incidents.

"I want to tell my brothers and sisters Governors; the devil is a very bad man and can cause a lot of damage with an idle mind.

"To avoid the great risk of the devil engaging idle minds in your offices because you have kept your deputies jobless, please it is important that the relationship between governors and their deputies is worked out.

"This will ensure that the devil does not have the space to use any idle mind to drive any evil agenda. And I am not being specific to a situation," this left the participants in stitches.

"In fact, I want to caution you that it is unlawful to watch films that have not been sanctioned by the Kenya Films Classification Board (KFCB)," Ruto remarked as the participants applauded.

This was in reference to KFCB CEO Ezekiel Mutua's sentiments that: "This is no laughing matter but I dare say that the filming was illegal as KFCB had not issued a permit for the same."

"Any reference to any films that were not authorized is a reference to illegal material. We should all keep to the straight and narrow and stay on the lawful end and corner," Ruto made a witty conclusion.

The DP also advised the Deputy Governors on the need to support their seniors noting: "Being a deputy is a difficult job. You have to balance between your ambition and serving your boss."

"I want to tell you that supporting your boss is not a weakness, it is a strength. If you are willing to be led, it means you are material to lead," Ruto concluded.
