Activist Boniface Mwangi on Wednesday challenged Deputy President William Ruto to withdraw an active case against him if he is serious about seeking forgiveness.
This came after Ruto took a cue from President Uhuru Kenyatta who in his State of The Nation (SoTN) address asked for forgiveness for anything hurtful he might have said or done during the electioneering period.
Ruto went on Twitter to plead for forgiveness from those he might have wronged before declaring that he had forgiven all those who hurt him.
"In keeping with HE's statement, l WSR unreservedly apologise to anyone offended or hurt in anyway by what I have said or done at any time. Find it in your heart to FORGIVE me. I have forgiven ALL those who wronged me. Let's embark on BUILDING the BRIDGES of friendship and UNITY," he tweeted.
In response to Ruto's message, Mwangi asked the DP to withdraw a defamation lawsuit he filed against him in 2016.
He further promised to withdraw a counter-suit he filed against Ruto, assertinng that he had also forgiven him.
"You sued me Deputy President @WilliamsRuto. Withdraw the case and l shall withdraw my counter claim. I have forgiven you for calling me names," he wrote.
In a case filed by lawyer Kioko Kilukumi in October 2016, Ruto demanded that Mwangi pull down a post on his Twitter page, terming it as false and malicious.

He also wanted the activist to be barred from posting any defamatory material against him and was seeking damages for libel.
Mwangi had linked Ruto to the assasination of billionaire businessman Jacob Juma who was a staunch critic of the Jubilee administration.
