Sonko Responds to Photos of Him and Goons Who Attacked Timothy Muriuki

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has come out clean moments after photos showing him and the goons who allegedly attacked former Nairobi Central Business District Business Association (NCBDA) Chairman Timothy Muriuki started circulating the social media.

Speaking to KTN News, the county boss owned up to the fact that he attended the wedding alongside the men who are wanted by the police in connection with the brutal attack.

"One of my friends was marrying, I attended to that wedding, I can confirm that, I cannot deny that," Sonko acknowledged.

However, he indicated that although he was pictured with the wanted men whose arrest he is equally advocating, the wedding happened before the men committed the crime and got on the wrong side of the law.

Sonko further indicated that at the wedding, he had no way of telling whether the men were criminals or not just by their look.

"I did not know whether they were good persons or bad persons. That wedding was like five weeks before the incident happened," Sonko revealed.

Citing a similar incident in April 2015 where he was accused of having met the man suspected of masterminding the Garissa University terrorist attack that killed 148 people, Sonko indicated that it was impossible to tell how one would turn out in the future.

Put to task whether he would have possibly deployed his personal security detail to apprehend the criminals, Sonko responded that he did not have such powers as the Governor.

"I do not have prosecutorial powers, I am not a police officer, I am not an investigator," Sonko quipped.

Sonko further revealed that on the material day, he attended two weddings; one in Runda and the second one where a close friend was marrying politician Nick Salat's daughter.
