Nelson Havi Speaks on Leaving Miguna Miguna's Legal Team

Lawyer Nelson Havi on Saturday commented on claims that he has left National Resistance Movement (NRM-) self-proclaimed general Miguna Miguna's legal team ahead of his coming.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Havi did not outrightly dismiss or confirm the claims as he noted that he could not comment on the issue.

"An issue between a lawyer and his client are confidential and therefore I cannot answer on any of your questions," Havi told Kenyans.co.ke.

There have been claims that the former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) presidential candidate has left the Canada-based barrister's legal team a few days before his coming back to the country.

Miguna is expected to land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on 16 May 2018.

On Wednesday, the Kenya National Human Rights Commission (KNHRC) urged the government to facilitate the return of the self-declared general.

In a letter addressed to the immigration Principal Secretary Gordon Kihalagwa and Immigration Director, the KNHRC chairperson Kagwiria Mbogori called on the government to issue Miguna with his Kenyan passport as well as buy him an air ticket from Toronto to Nairobi ahead of his arrival.

The commission also demanded that the government should issue access cards to its commissioners allowing them to meet the Miguna upon his arrival.

"Miguna has informed the commission that he will return to Kenya on May 16. To enable the Commission to comply with the court directive, the Commission urges your office to comply with the court orders,” affirmed Mbogori.

Additionally, the commission stated that they expect to get a response from the government on their request.

However, the government has not responded to the commission's letter yet.
