River Yala Breaks Its Banks

River Yala is reported to have bursts its banks near Dominion Farm.

Confirming the incident Nyanza regional police boss Leonard Katana warned locals to move to higher grounds.

Meanwhile, one person died and 500 others displaced when Entasopia River in Kajiado bursts its banks on Tuesday evening.

A local dispensary was also submerged luckily a woman, who was delivering at the dispensary, escaped death after the floods swept through the facility.

Kajiado County Health CEC Esther Somoire and deputy governor, Martin Moshisho flew to the location to offer assistance to the affected families.

Somoire stated: “We are grateful to the nurses for saving two lives. We have managed to give out sugar, blankets and maize meal to the affected families.”

Local residents stated they were caught by surprise by the raging water of Entasopia River flows into Kajiado West constituency from Narok.

Notably, residents near Masinga dam have been urged to move to higher grounds following fears that the dam might burst its banks.

Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter told the residents they have until Friday to move to safer grounds.

Keter also urged those living along River Tana to also relocate as they will be affected in case the dam breaks its banks.
