Mike Sonko Hits Out at Senator Sakaja Over Tweet on Miguna's Nomination

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has hit back at Senator Johnson Sakaja over his stance on the nomination of Miguna Miguna as Deputy Governor.

Sakaja declared on Thursday that Miguna would not become the Deputy Governor of Nairobi under any circumstances.

"Miguna will not become the Deputy Governor of Nairobi. Take that to the bank," he tweeted.

In a statement sent to Kenyans.co.ke on Friday by the County's Deputy Communications Director Jacob Elkana, Sonko rubbished Sakaja's prediction stating that he had no moral authority to lecture him.

He questioned why Sakaja would oppose the move yet, at one point, he bailed out Embakasi East MP Babu Owino who had been arrested for insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“I have seen my senator talking about it. Sakaja (Johnson) has already forgotten that he went to help Babu Owino when he was arrested for abusing President Uhuru Kenyatta,” Sonko stated.

Sonko maintained that he would appoint whoever he wanted to his government.

He explained that he chose Miguna for the position in the spirit of the March 9 handshake between President Kenyatta and National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga.

Sonko further asked the Government to facilitate Miguna's smooth entry into the country.

“Kenyans Let us not forget where we have come from. The same President Uhuru Kenyatta asked for forgiveness from Kenyans and pledged to work with Raila Odinga, Miguna should also be forgiven and allowed back in Kenya to take up his new job,” he stated.
