Lawyer Ahmednasir Takes on Esther Passaris on Twitter

Senior counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi on Wednesday posed a tough question to Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris regarding her win in the August elections.

The spat on Twitter began when Ahmednasir chimed in on a debate on a constitutional reform push by Opposition leader Raila Odinga.

"On the raging debate on constitutional reforms, I am 100% with Deputy President William Ruto.

"We can't agitate 24 hours non-stop for constitutional reforms simply to improve the future political fortunes of individuals who have perennially failed to win the popular mandate," he conveyed.

To this, Passaris responded: "Failed to win? Really? A man of your intellect, during the month of Ramadhan cannot pretend to be oblivious to the fact that our country electoral body did not conduct #FreeFairCredibleElections during the last two elections. It's a fact known by both sides of the divide."

In a quick rejoinder, the flamboyant lawyer questioned Passaris on the legitimacy of her win.

"The answer is simple. Did you win your seat fairly and according to the law or did you steal the votes?" he posed.

Passaris did not hesitate as she fired back with: "You tell me since you are a learned friend."

Kenyans online were intrigued by the discussion with many revisiting her electoral victory.

"So do you think the electoral body conducted free and fair elections for Nairobi women rep?" one user asked

Another wrote: "Were you not elected through the same electoral body? Is it credible only when you win?

Not letting the questions get the better of her, the legislature stated: "Cambridge Analytica can more than likely answer your question. Alternatively, we can #OpenTheServers This is important for us to call a spade a spade and to take honest reflection on how to raise our integrity as a people."

That did not stop Kenyans from guessing of what could have happened in the elections to hand Pasaris the victory: "So, Shebesh had won and @IEBCKenya stole her victory for you."
