In a statement to on Wednesday, the governor's communications team dismissed claims that he was operating from Machakos stating that the meeting was impromptu and Sonko had planned to a sit down with the CECs.

His absence in the city has Nairobi MPs up in arms urging him to return and provide services to the people.

Makadara MP George Aladwa and Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati on Saturday told Sonko to stop the theatrics and get back to work.

"Scaling down of his security detail should not be a reason to move to his Machakos home as he has an armoury at City Hall with properly trained personnel with experience," the MPs stated.

On his part, Sonko stated that he would no longer use security from the National Government and he would make his own arrangement.

"Even if they are reinstated, I don't need their security, I have asked them to go back, I will make my private arrangement. For now I am consulting my advisors in the county. Let me focus on service delivery," he divulged.

The Nairobi Governor has alleged that Interior PS Karanja Kibicho has issued threats on his life for failing to give into his demands.

"He is not above the law, and he has predicted my death, he said he is going to use his powers, the police and intelligence to ensure he kills me within a day," Sonko conveyed.
