NYS Director General Richard Ndubai Arrested

National Youth Service Director General Richard Ndubai and 16 others have been arrested in connection with the ongoing investigations on the Ksh9 Billion scandal.

Ndubai was arrested along with the  Assistant Director-General Sam Michuki on Monday following orders to have the suspects prosecuted.

The suspects were booked at the Gigiri, Central and Muthaiga Police stations for processing. 

NYS officials named in the crackdown are Wellanalo Mulupi, Keziah Mwangi, Isaiah Chopia, Duba Galgalo, Matano Odoyo, and businessman James Thuita Nderitu.

Others arrested are Peter Muchui, Sammy Mbugua, David Kirui, Ferdinard Matavo, Timothy Kiplangat Rotich and businesswoman Yvonne Wanjiku Ngugi

The names are said to have been provided by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss George Kinoti in dossiers handed over to Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji on Sunday.

The Director-General stepped aside to allow for investigations on May 18, 2018, along with Public Service and Youth Principal Secretary Lillian Mbogo Omollo.

The two later appeared before the National Assembly Public Accounts Committee where the PS denied the theft of the said Ksh9 Billion.

According to a tweet from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), DPP Noordin Haji has also ordered prosecution of all those named in the case.

"The DPP has independently reviewed all the inquiries files related to the ongoing investigations at NYS and has directed prosecution commences immediately against all the named suspects," a Monday tweet from the ODPP outlined.
