Woman Dies After Being Pushed Out of Moving Matatu at Safari Park Hotel

A young woman died on Wednesday after she was allegedly pushed out of a moving matatu along the Thika superhighway.

The deceased, Doreen, who was a student at the Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS) was pushed from a Zamzam Sacco bus plying Githurai 45 route at Safari Park hotel.

A good Samaritan Peter Pekat, who highlighted the incident on social media, tried to rush the university student to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

"Doreen was pushed from a moving bus at safari park hotel. She died while I was rushing her to Neema hospital.

"If you were a passenger on that bus kindly go to Kasarani police station to record a statement," he requested.

On Thursday, the National Transport and Safety Authority assured that they were investigating the matter together with police.

"A case where a passenger was pushed from a moving PSV Bus along Thika RD who later succumbed to her injuries has been brought to our attention Pekat.

"We are working closely with the police to ensure the PSV crew are apprehended," the tweeted on Thursday.

On their part, the Police assured that they were looking into the matter and had impounded the matatu.

"Kindly note that this unfortunate incident is currently being handled by our officers at Kasarani Police station. The matatu is also in Kasarani awaiting Inspection and other procedures as per the law," they stated.
