Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o has named a new Chief of Staff after sending home Patrick Ouya for allegedly threatening to shoot him dead.
A statement from the Governor's Press Unit disclosed that Joseph Omondi, a lecturer of Mathematics and Statistics at Masai Mara University would be the new Chief of Staff.
His appointment took effect on June 13, 2018.
Ouya's contract was terminated on grounds of gross misconduct after he was accused of threatening to shoot the Governor and his Deputy Mathews Owili.
Nyong'o recorded a statement at Central Police Station stating that Ouya "in an unexplained and unwarranted fit of rage", confronted his security personnel and attempted to forcefully gain access to his office.

In the letter informing Ouya of his termination, the Governor stated that he was in breach of Article 75 of the Constitution and Section 40 of the County Government Act.
Ouya was arrested by a Flying Squad officer in Kisumu and taken to the police station.
He vehemently denied the accusations leveled against him.
Ouya later told The Star that there was "nothing like that" as he maintained that the claims were fabricated.
He claimed to have met the Governor's bodyguard in the morning who followed him into Nyongo's office where an argument ensued concerning, among other things, his planned removal from office.
"The body guard left and after 15 minutes came with police officers who ransacked my office and found no gun. We went to the station. I explained everything and left so these are just lies," he asserted.
