Details have emerged on two new parties that have already been registered by known allies of Deputy President William Ruto, fueling speculation that the Jubilee Party could be headed for an early divorce.
Even as the Deputy President's allies reiterated that President Uhuru Kenyatta's renewed fight against corruption was targeting Ruto, the Registrar of Political parties Lucy Ndung’u confirmed that 2 new political parties had been issued with registration certificates.
The parties known as United Green Party (UGP) and Grand Dream Development Party (GDDP) are associated with politicians from the Rift Valley.
“We have issued provisional registration certificate to the two parties but I cannot give you the details of the interim officials because I am not in the office,” Ndung'u told Nation.
Among the leaders linked to the new outfits are Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, his Soy counterpart Caleb Kositany, Aldai lawmaker Cornelly Serem and Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei.

Sources at the Registrar's office further revealed that the DP's men had been spotted there finalizing the details of the parties' registration.
Cherargei had earlier this week disclosed that they were looking for a new political vehicle as there were elements in Jubilee intent on clipping Ruto's wings.
"We are thinking of a new vehicle ahead of 2022. We cannot work with saboteurs, we cannot work with those who think they can block DP’s 2022 bid. We can’t work with our enemies,” he stated.
While addressing the order by President Kenyatta that all government officials undergo lifestyle audits, Sudi had stated that the audit should also cover Kenya's founding President Jomo Kenyatta.
"We are with the President on this, in fact, more than 100 per cent. We ask everyone to submit to the audit including political leaders and their families."
"We will start with Mzee Jomo, then follow with him and the rest of us," he stated at the burial of Raymond Kipchumba, a GSU officer, Saturday, June 16 at Chepkoiya Village in Uasin Gishu County.
