In a previous TV interview, Amani's mother Christine Ambuso revealed that, "It has not been easy. It has been very scary since that thing went viral".
She further noted the misconstrued notion associating Amani's fame with an influx of money especially following her wide media coverage; "Wanasema lazima tuwatolee za macho (They are demanding that we give them a share of the money)."
On her part, Amani who became a media sensation after her rendition of Alicia Keys' song "Girl on Fire" went viral indicated that she no longer goes out due to her newfound fame.
"It's good and it's also bad. The more you become a celebrity, the more you have to hide. There are bad people out there. They want money, obviously," Amani stated.
However, the young songstress indicated that she is trying to handle the hardships nevertheless "It's the life I have lived in the ghetto, so many things happen out there".
Amani explained one particular incident when a man went after her as she came back from school forcing her to run and seek asylum at someone's house.
"The experience was so scary, when I got home I was crying. I don't know what he wanted," Amani narrated the ordeal.
According to her mother, the family has had to take extreme caution for their safety especially after the attack incident.
"We have been taking Amani to school every morning, and a teacher has to escort her back to the house from school," she stated.
She further noted that Amani's sisters Wema and Upendo too have been forced to spend time indoors whenever they are not in school.
