Form One Student Assaulted At Kirigara Girls Dormitory

Kirigara Girls High School is on the spot over reports of a form one student being raped by three men on Friday night in the school compound.

The victim claimed that unknown men attacked her on Friday night near her dormitory when she was going to the washroom at around 2 am.

According to Daily Nation, the girl reported the details on the assault to the school administration on Saturday morning but was only taken the hospital hours later in the evening.

Imenti Central police boss Elijah Maina on Tuesday confirmed that the matter had been reported and officers were seeking to ascertain the claims.

The student indicated she had reported the matter to the school nurse who she requested to help inform the school principal, Julia Wachira.

“Our principal is tough; I could not approach her. She also could not have believed me. I urged the nurse to do it on my behalf,” she told Daily Nation.

The attackers, who she couldn't identify given they covered their faces, further assaulted her and despite being in pain, she was taken to Meru Level Five Hospital hours later.

The school’s deputy principal Jenifer Mukaria is said to have asked the victim not to speak out about the matter so as to spare teachers and the entire school from facing a probe on the incident.

When asked to comment on the matter, Ms Mukira held that the student was only making false allegations. She told the paper that the school does not have such cases and was well secured.

A relatable incident at Moi Girls in Nairobi recently caused public protests that saw the school principal take an early exit from the profession. Teachers and workers a Moi Girls were also accused of trying to silence the girls who had information on the rape case.

The incident led to the demolition of business structures around the school with the security lapse at the institution being linked to informal businesses around the school.
