Police Arrest Kenyan Woman Over Sh140 Million Stolen in Dubai

One Rebecca Mueni Musau is at the center of a probe into a Sh140 Million heist from a car transporting the money to an ATM at a shopping mall in Dubai.

With the huge amount of money at her disposal, first stop would be the Nairobi real estates space.

Mweni is suspected to have used part of the stolen money to acquire a posh house in Ruai.

Ms Mueni has together with two other Kenyans been on the detectives wanted list in the country.

The United Arab Emirates sleuths have also been trailing her in connection with Sh140 million (Dh5 million) heist in Dubai.

On Wednesday Ms Mueni was arrested at the Namanga border following a tip-off from Immigration officials.

The entry point immigration systems had flagged her passport making it easy for the Kenyan police to nab her in partnership with Interpol.

She was brought to Nairobi and made to direct the officers to her Ruai house where they seized at least Sh13 believed to be part of the heist.

Mueni has been in transit for the last three months. According to detectives, she came into the country earlier but they suspect she had moved to Tanzania for some other businesses.

The woman alongside Charles Karanja and another suspect whose identity detectives have withheld are reported to have stolen the money on March 2 at around 10:30 pm.

Karanja was a security guard at the shopping mall. He was arrested by Dubai police at an apartment in Al Nahda, Sharjah.
