How School Girls are Being Lured Into Child Sex Trade

Two High School girls were lured into what police believed to be a child sex trade ring by the promise of being hooked up with white men.

The 17-year-old girls from a Limuru school had been reported missing were found in Malindi where it is believed they were to be used for child sex trade.

Malindi OCPD Matawa Muchangi told journalists the teenagers may have been lured into the coastal town for sex trafficking by a man identified only as Kamau.

Muchangi stated that investigations did not show the girls were in Malindi for any terrorism related acts like radicalization or training.

“The girls met Kamau back home and he told them he works in Malindi and assured them of work if they came to Malindi,” the police boss stated.

“He told them that even if they wanted white men then they would find them because Malindi has a lot of white men. He (Kamau) left them the bus fare of Ksh8,000 and told them they would find him at Malindi stage on arrival,” he added.

On arrival, however, the two high school students did not locate Kamau as they had planned but police managed to trace them to a house in Maweni, Malindi before they were taken to Malindi Police Station where they are being interrogated awaiting the arrival of their parents.

This is not the first incident of school girls that have been missing only to be located under unclear circumstances.

Barely four days ago six female students who had gone missing a week ago have been traced to a remote village in Thika, Kiambu County.

The students from New Nyaga Day Secondary School in Gatanga, Murang’a County, were discovered in a residential building in Kiganjo village, Thika West only for one to call their parent and report they had been married and were living in Dandora, Nairobi.

Parents of the girls asked the police to arrest Bodaboda operators who ferried them away from the village, expressing fears that the girls could run away again if the friendship between them exists.

Gatanga Deputy County Commissioner, David Rotich confirmed that the girls were found on Saturday evening and were held at Makongeni police station for interrogation.
