Jubilee Party secretary-general Raphael Tuju on Monday disclosed that his mother was the victim of humiliation over his decision to support President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking at Kanyimach Village in Rongo constituency during the burial of Migori senator Ben Oluoch, Tuju stated that his family could not go carry out their regular activities in the market without being subject to ridicule.
As he took to the podium to deliver Uhuru's condolence message to mourners, Tuju who hails from the same county with ODM leader Raila Odinga noted that the reconciliatory handshake between the President and the opposition leader had made things better for his kin.
“I am happy can now read the president’s speech in Migori, this spirit of the handshake has even made my mother go to the market in peace.

“I have been told my friends are wearing shoes and won’t throw them at me for reading the message," he stated.
Raila who was also present at the service called out MPs for their non-commital actions towards fighting corruption.
Referring to the joint committee's report on contraband sugar which was rejected for being shallow and inconclusive.
“It is like sending a hungry dog to chase a thief carrying meat, the thief drops the meat and the dog lets him go.
“Several legislators in this funeral should tell their colleagues and their assembly leaders that Kenyans are watching,” he explained.
He added that the handshake committee would table a report soon on corruption as it was one of the agendas it would tackle.
“We (Raila and President Uhuru) have been working closely with the 14 people taskforce which will deal with the issue of corruption soon,” he conveyed.
