Video of DP William Ruto Delivering Ksh8 Million During Harambee

Deputy President William Ruto is arguably the most benevolent politician in the country going by his huge contributions at fundraisers popularly known as Harambee.

His latest act of philanthropy and sheer generosity saw the DP contribute a staggering Ksh8 million in cash at All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi on Sunday.

In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the DP is seen receiving contributions from other politicians accompanying him before making his contribution.

Other leaders who contributed at the event include Water and Irrigation Principal Secretary (PS) Joseph Irungu (Ksh100,000), Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen (Ksh200, 000), Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa and Ndindi Nyoro of Kiharu.

Delivering his cash donation in a green non-woven bag, the DP stated: "There is Ksh8 million here and I will send Ksh2 million shillings more".

The DP has fallen under heavy criticism in the past with a section of leaders including NASA leader Raila Odinga questioning the source of his huge donations which happen nearly every weekend.

In particular, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna has continued the party's questioning of the source of Ruto's continued hefty investment in church donations.

"How can somebody who is responsible for a country that is failing, be doing so well in his private business?

"How comes that this business acumen cannot be translated into the country so that we all prosper? And when you ask, you are told that he is an astood businessman," Sifuna quipped during a past interview.

On his part, however, the DP has told off critics stating: "Mimi ninainvest kwa mambo ya mbinguni. Wewe ukitaka kuinvest mahali pengine… si kila mtu ako na uhuru wa kuinvest pahali anataka? (I am investing in heaven. If you wish to invest elsewhere so be it. Everyone has a choice on their investment priority)."
