The parastatal responded to the incident stating; "Our technical team has confirmed that electricity to the court is on and that the outage may have been occasioned by internal wiring."

The incident elicited reactions from Kenyans online with one stating: "Junior KPLC workers enjoying life. They don't want those thieves given bail."

"Hahaha, a dose of their own medicine," another noted.

The company’s former MD Ben Chumo, General Manager for Regional Coordination Peter Mwicigi and legal secretary Beatrice Meso were arrested on Saturday morning by DCI officers over alleged economic crimes.

Other who were apprehended are John Ombui, former supply chain manager and Peter Mungai Kinuthia who was in charge of business strategy.

They are set to be charged with conspiracy to defraud, conspiracy to commit an economic crime, willful failure to comply with law relating to procurement, abuse of office and conspiracy to defeat justice.

The DPP ordered the arrest of the firm’s officials over the alleged procurement of defective transformers and irregularities in issuing contracts to 525 companies.

Kenya Power has, however, assured Kenyans that its operations won't be hindered by the arrest of the managers.
