Kenyans have crafted a new term to refer to the series of high profile arrests the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has ordered over the past few weeks.

The arrests that have coincidentally fallen on Fridays leading to the operative term "Kamata Fridays". Kamata is a Swahili word meaning catch or arrest.

The term was widely used by netizens who re+plied to a tweet by blogger Cyprian Nyakundi claiming that National Lands Commission Chair Muhammud Swazuri was evading arrest.

Under the trending topic "Ruaraka", here are some of the comments that were shared on Nyakundi's tweet.

Francis Mburu

Nairobi businessman Francis Mburu trended on Friday after he was released from custody at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

Mr Mburu is the businessman behind a contest over the ownership of a 13-acre piece of land in Ruaraka.

Mburu claims that the land on which the government built the Drive-Inn Primary School and Ruaraka High School belongs to him and as such he ought to be paid rent that has accrued over more than 25 years.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and other government officials, however, maintain that the land was purchased from Mburu by both the Ministry of Education and the General Service Unit (GSU).

Ruth Kamande

Convicted beauty queen Ruth Kamande trended on Friday after High Court Judge Jessie Lesiit sentenced her to death for killing her boyfriend by stabbing him 25 times.

Netizens conveyed split opinions over both the incident and the sentence with some stating that the judge should have been lenient.
