What to Expect as Citizen TV Relaunches [VIDEO]

Citizen TV, one of the popular television stations in the country has announced a major relaunch on Sunday, July 22 which will feature an "all-star cast".

In what the Royal Media-owned station terms as "undeniable shake-up of the Kenyan media space", a new line-up of presenters is set to take over the news bulletins.

The most remarkable of the changes is the coupling of the Lulu Hassan and her husband Rashid Abdalla who will co-host Saturday and Sunday's news popularly known as Nipashe Wikendi.

Another major change is the 9 PM 'Sunday Live' news which will now be hosted by former NTV anchor Victoria Rubadiri alongside veteran journalist Jeff Koinange.

'Monday Special' will now be under Anne Kiguta, a seasoned political news anchor while Tuesday's 'News Night' will be anchored by Hussein Mohammed.

Jeff Koinange will continue hosting his talk show 'Jeff Koinange Live' on Wednesdays while Thursday's 'Tonight' will be steered by Yvonne Okwara.

'Friday Night,' will be co-hosted by Waihiga Mwaura and Jacque Maribe while Lilian Muli will later in the night host 'Citizen Weekend' at 9 pm.

Jamila Mohamed, Swaleh Mdoe, Mashirima Kapombe, Mwanahamisi Hamadi, and Nimrod Taabu will feature in the revamped Swahili desk.

The Monday Swahili bulletin will be hosted by Swaleh Mdoe while Mwanahamisi Hamadi will anchor the Tuesday Swahili news.

The Swahili news editor Jamila Mohammed will also host Nipashe on Wednesdays, Nimrod Taabu on Thursdays, and Mashirima Kapombe on Friday.

Day Break, a new breakfast show, will be premiering every Monday to Friday from 6 am to 9 am hosted by Willis Raburu, Joey Muthengi, Fred Indimuli and Waihiga Mwaura.

A new three-hour mid-morning show 'Sema Na Citizen' set for unveiling will feature the national conversation in Swahili from 11 am to 2 pm.
