20-year-old University Killed by Lover's Half Brother in Kisumu

A 20-year-old university student, Beverline, in Kisumu lost her life after a man she had been living with, 21-year-old Mr Joseph Ayomo, turned against her and his own half-brother.

It is suspected that the three had a bitter argument on Tuesday night when the perpetrator attacked the woman and his own brother with a knife.

The three had been living together in the house at Lolwe Estate for three weeks and the student is said to have been dating the suspected attacker's half-brother, 32-year-old Evans Otieno.

The alleged boyfriend was inflicted with stab wounds that left him fighting for his life at a Kisumu hospital.

"The lady was the half-brother's girlfriend. Reports indicate that he raped her before stabbing her several times in the chest, head and eyes.

"When his brother who had stepped out returned to the house, he was also stabbed," Kisumu Central OCPD Meshack Kiptum confirmed.

Ayomo was arrested and taken to the police station, declining to explain what had driven him to the act.

Police further conveyed that the arrested suspect had dumped the body of the murdered woman in a car that belongs to his injured brother where she was found.

Neighbours were not willing to explain details of the incident with some speculating that it may have been a love affair gone sour.

They reported having heard a commotion at the house on the night when the woman was murdered but they claimed to have been unable to intervene.

Caren Atieno, Beverline's mother who lives in Kisumu, says she thought her daughter was in school and was shocked to learn that she had been killed.
