Four people perished on Thursday after a vehicle they were travelling in was involved in an accident at Kambiti area in Murang'a County.
Murang'a South base commander Abdullahi Dato confirmed the report conveying that a 14-seater matatu had crashed into a truck along the busy Nairobi - Nyeri highway.
The 14-seater matatu was alleged to have been from the 2NK Sacco that plies the route.
Motorists were advised to use alternative routes to avoid the traffic pile-up that was at the accident scene as first responders attended to the casualties.

A number of casualties were said to have been trapped inside the crashed vehicle. Police were yet to confirm the cause of the accident.
