Govt Announces Leadership Changes in Parastatals as CSs Make New Appointments

The government has  made leadership changes across various parastatals in the latest round of government appointments by cabinet secretaries including Geoffrey Ruku, Julius Ogamba, Aden Duale, Davis Chirchir, Eric Mugaa, and William Kabogo.

In a gazette notice, Public Service CS Ruku made four appointments, all in the Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA). CS Ruku appointed Emma Wambui Mbugua, Anne Derasso Illo, Fredrick Odumo Nying’uro, and Valerie Lomosi to be members of the Board of Directors at GRA.

The four are set to serve for three years, with their appointments triggering the revocations of the appointments of Ernest Kamau, Anne Too, Innocent Muganda, Janet Oben, and Edwin Gikunju, in the same capacity.

In the Ministry of Education, CS Ogamba appointed Professor Kellen Kathure Kiambati as Chairperson of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority Board. Kiambati is set to serve in this role for four years.

Information, Communications and Digital Economy CS William Kabogo appointed Stephen Njuki as a member of the Board of the Communications Authority of Kenya. 

Ngari, a politician who come second to CS Ruku in the Mbeere North parliamentary seat in the 2022 elections, will serve for three years. Ruku would then go to be appointed by President William Ruto as a CS

Health CS Aden Duale appointed Edwin Gikunju, who had his appointment at the GRA revoked, to be a member of the Board of Directors at the Kenya Institute of Primate Research. 

Gikunju, once shortlisted to be a Principal Secretary, will serve on the Board for three years.

Innocent Muganda, another official who had his appointment at the GRA revoked, was selected to be a member of the Board of the National Water Harvesting and Storage by Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation CS Eric Mugaa. He will serve in his role for three years.

Roads and Transport CS Davis Chirchir appointed Anne Too as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA). 

Too, daughter to the late long-serving Director of the defunct Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Noah Nondin arap Too, will serve for three years.

Attorney General Dorcas Oduor, another member of the Executive, also announced the appointment of Ernest Kamau as a member of the Board of Directors of the Business Registration Service Board. Kamau will serve for three years.

At the same time, Oduor also revoked the appointment of members of the Selection Panel responsible for nominating members of the Waqf Commission.
