Members of the Muslim community have demanded that the nomination of one of the envoys by President Uhuru Kenyatta be revoked.
Led by Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM), they raised concerns over the appointment of Peter Oginga Ogego as Saudi Arabia envoy claiming he will face hurdles in the country.
They stated that it is unfair to have both the ambassador and his deputy who are not muslims represent the country in an Islamic state.

“The postings to Saudi Arabia are unfair to Muslims. We just can’t have both the ambassador and his number two as non Muslims,” an official statement read.
In a letter sent to Foreign Affairs PS Macharia Kamau, they mentioned that there are some locations that the two will not be allowed to access.
"As things stand, this will cause a lot of constraints with the Muslim community," they noted.
According to a local publisher, the council advocated for the nomination of an Islam envoy.
"My friend Ogego is an excellent diplomat, but he will face a lot of challenges if he does not have a Muslim deputy," SUPKEM chairman Yusuf Nzibo mentioned.
Oginga was nominated to serve in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia after a recent reshuffle of ambassadors and high commissioners by State House.
He is among other nominees waiting for Parliament’s approval.
