Senator Wetangula Declares He is Now The Opposition Leader

Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has unexpectedly claimed to have taken over the helm of  Kenya's opposition.

During an interview on K24TV, the Ford Kenya party leader claimed that leaders alongside whom he started opposition roles had been captured to work in Government leaving the role solely to him.

He stated the opposition was now in his hands insisting he is the one leading the country to the next set of leadership.

"I am leading the opposition and we are fighting for Kenyans. In history, we have people who fight and in the process of the fight, there are some who get captured but eventually, others emerge to lead the fight," stated Wetangula.

In what appears as a reference to ODM leader Raila Odinga, Wetangula noted that warriors can be as strong as the Biblical Samson, "lethal as David, determined as Alexander The Great, but can still be captured. Once they get captured, they distort the process of the fight but eventually, others still emerge and lead the fight."

He went on to wish those he believes had been captured by their opponents the best "in their state of captivity," and hopes they turn to see the difference with which the country needs to be led.

His remarks come hours after NASA co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka announced having resolved to work with President Kenyatta's administration.

Kalonzo, after Raila Odinga in the famous handshake, is the second leader in the NASA coalition to publicly declare having joined the ruling party in pushing forward the government's agenda.

Both Kalonzo and Raila have been in the opposition, with the ODM leader serving the longest as a key critic and keeping the government in check.'

On Sunday during a church service in Ukambani region, deputy president William Ruto, who pundits have argued was disturbed by President Kenyatta's resolve to work with Mr Odinga, welcomed Kalonzo's decision to work with Jubilee.
