#AllForMum Medical Appeal for Anne Kamene Kiilu

The #AllForMum medical appeal on social media has touched Kenyans hearts with many showing their support for the cause.

The campaign is run by the family of Anna Kamene Kiilu to save the matriarch's life who travelled to India for a kidney transplant.

"Our family, relatives, friends, schoolmates, workmates, acquaintances and doctors, came through for us in ways we were left speechless. Spiritually, emotionally, financially, in every way, they gave us strength to fight through the journey, they enable us to get to India for the kidney transplant, and how grateful we are as a family is inexpressible," reads a message from the family.

The family was optimistic that the light at the end of the tunnel was near as they knew that Ms Kiilu was doing her last dialysis before the kidney transplant.

"Just as we were finishing all the tests, met the board committee which approved our transplant, one test came with different news and plan.

"Mom was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type blood cancer that affects plasma cells and bone marrow, which was what caused the kidney failure, we got the treatment plan and everything was back on track though it would take longer, which is okay. Whatever It Takes For Mom," read a heartfelt update by the family.

Her son, Dennis O. Jawuor, who had travelled with her to India for the transplant, had to return to the country to raise money for the additional treatment.

"In our second cycle of chemotherapy, the medication affected her legs with something called foot drop and they had to change the medicine used, we started physiotherapy, we kept fighting and things went back on track, time was not going to limit us, the will, faith and God gave us strength and will.

"Mom started losing weight and now she was too weak that we had to admit her, it was another setback, but the doctors were there for us, she regains some strength and we discharged her. When we thought things have hit rock bottom and they have no option but to go up," Jawour assures.

They were told they have to do a type of bone marrow transplant called stem cell transplant, which will help stop cancer from reoccurring once Anne reaches remission, and only after that, will it be possible to do the kidney transplant.

In a bid to stay encouraged, the family is not losing hope, affirming: "The journey is tough and rocky and we have used all our avenues financially , we desperate and as we write this , we hoping it inspires, motivate, touch someone's heart, to offer a prayer, to keep us in heart, share it at least, it get somewhere we will get a chance to breathe and we get to come back with mom treated and healed and be a testimonial that we have a Living God who works through all of us."

The family needs to raise Kshs.6 Million which will cover the anti-myeloma chemotherapy, stem cell transplant, dialysis support for 6 months and the renal transplant.

Anna’s son is appealing to Kenyans to help him raise money for his mother’s treatment. Whatever amount you give him will be highly appreciated.
