The Beat Comes to a Halt on NTV

Nation Media Group-owned NTV will stop airing popular music show The Beat starting from the second week of August.

The longest local music show in Kenya will stop airing after a 14-year partnership.

In a social media post seen by Kenyans.co.ke, The Beat indicated it was yet to renew the contract, which ends in about a week, and will be moving to a new station.

“To everyone who has watched us over the last 14 years, supported us, criticized us, sent a shout out, we are happy to have been in this long journey together,” the post read.

“The show comes to an end on NTV and we moving to shape the Kenyan music industry keep it locked on our new YouTube channel and social media handles for updates,” the post read.

The programme showcases both urban local and international music.

It is also a platform for both local and international entertainment news.

It is one of the most watched shows in East Africa and was started by veteran DJ Pinye.

The 47-year-old started the programme after deejaying for Nation and Capital FM in the late 90s and early 2000s.

It is not clear where the show will camp next but there are speculations that it might be headed to Citizen TV.
