Police in Makueni County on Thursday arrested the man captured on camera brutally attacking his wife Mwende Mwongeli.
He was apprehended in the morning at Nguu Masumba, Kibwezi West constituency, county police boss Joseph Ole Naipeyan confirmed.
The video which surfaced earlier this week sparked massive public uproar with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji issuing a warrant for the man's arrest.
The man identified as David Nzomo was recorded raining kicks and blows on his helpless wife on a remote road.
The incident took place in the Kitonyoni Primary School area of Makueni County.
A manhunt was launched as Nzomo's whereabouts remained unknown.
Leaders including Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr had declared that Nzomo would be made to pay for his actions.
"David Nzomo is on the run, but he cannot hide . His savage and beastly acts against his defenseless wife Mwende mwongeli are tantamount to attempted murder . The authorities have assured us that they will unearth him by hook or crook," he stated on Tuesday.
Mwongeli was taken to Wote Hospital after the incident where she has been receiving treatment.
Other leaders who condemned the incident include Machakos Gubernatorial aspirant Wavinya Ndeti.
"I have spoken to Makueni County Leadership concerning the barbaric act that happened at Muvau Village near Kitonyoni Primary of a man bartering his wife who is currently admitted at Wote Hospital and Police are persuing Nzomo Ndolo the perpetrator," she tweeted.
