Abduba Dida in Multi-million Divorce Case

A former presidential candidate is facing a multi-million divorce case from one of his three wives.

Estail Ali Ibrahim has lodged a divorce to end her 10-year marriage to Mohamed Abduba Dida citing cruelty, contempt and disrespect.

“The petitioner is psychologically affected by the respondent’s abusive language, for instance, calling her a prostitute and a big liar. That the respondent has been constantly abusive and showed violent behaviour towards the petitioner and this has had a negative impact towards the petitioner and the marriage,” the separation suit reads.

In her case at the Kadhi’s court in Nairobi, Estail is seeking Sh12 million as alimony, which she calculates at the rate of Sh100,000 per month for the entire period of their 10-year marriage.

The divorce petition also requested the court to have Dida bear the cost of the suit.

She told the Islamic Court that Dida has not contributed financially to the maintenance of the family and has instead left the burden to her, even after losing her job in May.

Estail also alleges that she has been a co-wife to Amina and Rukia but Dida chose to give priority to his first wife, claiming she has been patient for a long time.

She is also seeking a permanent injunction restraining the former teacher from visiting or interfering with her in any place.

In addition to that, she wants Dida restrained from spreading what she terms as accusations about her, including adultery allegations in her first marriage with Takrem ‘Thomas’Daido Dulu.

She also wants the court to compel Dulu to undergo a paternity test to prove that he is the father of her 18-year-old son.

“As a Muslim, I’m entitled to marry four but I’m married to three. One is Amina, a banker, the other, Estail, works with the World Health Organisation and there’s Rukia who is a housewife. One of my wives takes care of the family finance, one takes care of secretarial work in these campaigns, and one takes care of the children,” Dida mentioned during the campaign period.
