Governor Joho Speaks on the Intricacies of Meeting with Mzee Moi's

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho on Sunday opened up on the details of his meeting with Mzee Moi at his Kabarak home.

Speaking during a fundraiser at Churo Girls, Baringo County, Joho indicated that the former president tasked him with a solemn duty to play a role in uniting the country.

"The first thing he told me, Governor kutoka Mombasa nashukuru unafanya vizuri unashikilia Mombasa, nataka ufanye kila unaloweza ulete umoja katika nchi yetu (I am grateful with what you are doing in Mombasa. I want you to do all that is within your capacity to unite this country)," Joho stated.

In this respect, Joho indicated that he will join hands with other leaders including Baringo Governor Stanley Kiptis, Tiaty MP William Kassait Kamket and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi to ensure that he fulfils the new mandate.

"We will move across the country and open the ears of the citizens. We will let them know the truth," Joho asserted.

The Governor also drummed support for equitable distribution of resources between the national and county governments indicating that it is the only way true economic empowerment can be realized.

"Your governor is more accessible than the president due to obvious reasons. We need a 50/50 share on the budget so that the fruits of devolution can be realized in all regions of the country," he stated.

Joho further indicated that he will continue supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta's purge against corruption.

"Uhuru alisema amepoteza marafiki. Asijali, sisi ndio marafiki wake wapya. Na mimi sitawai kubali mwizi aongoze nchi hii (Uhuru indicated that he has lost many friends (in the war against corruption). He shouldn't be bothered by that as we are his new friends. On my part, I will never permit a thief to lead this country)."

The Mombasa County boss equally hinted to contesting for the presidency as his next political ambition after he is done with his gubernatorial term.

"The rest may not have spoken out yet, but we are in serious deliberations with other Governors who are serving their second and final term in office about the future," he revealed.

"I want you to memorize this face. Because one day I will be the President of this country, God willing," Joho added.
