Babu Owino Blasts President Museveni Over Complaint Letter

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino on Saturday share a letter believed to originate from President Yoweri Museveni's administration.

The letter seeks an official apology to Museveni from Kenyan MPs who threatened to lead protests in Kampala.

Babu told off the Museveni administration for seeking to silence Kenyan legislators who expressed concerns over the evident mistreatment of Ugandan opposition leaders.

The letter addressed to National Assembly Speakers Justine Muturi irked the youthful Babu and he has asked President Museveni to keep off the matter.

"Museveni should keep off, I already achieved what I wanted which was the release of Hon.Bobi Wine," wrote Babu on his social media platforms.

Museveni's administration in the letter written through Uganda's Ministry of East Africa wanted action taken against Babu and other Kenyan MP's accusing them of meddling in the country's affairs.

Several Museveni allied lawmakers and the Uganda Minister for East African Affairs Julius Maganda Wandera were leading the push to silence the Kenyan leaders.

Ugandan media quoted the minister saying; "We (Museveni's government) want a comment to come out officially either to retract that statement of the MPs or to apologise or else we might seek through our embassy to have these matters placed before the president of Kenya."

Babu Owino who the complaint letter identified at a press conference addressed the Ugandan government and gave an ultimatum for the release of Bobi Wine.

He warned that he would lead the protests in Kampala should the authorities continue holding the opposition legislator who was on Saturday allowed to fly to the US for treatment.

ODM party also added its voice to the matter on Friday demanding that Bobi Wine is allowed to seek medication abroad.
