On Tuesday morning, when Kenyans were still coming to terms with the details of infant deaths exposed by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, another governor uploaded photos of him in a similar exercise.
Unlike Sonko, Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama's Facebook post was awash with ridicule after sharing his photos at the county leading hospital.
Nyagarama announced having conducted an impromptu visit at Nyamira Teaching and Referral Hospital in the company of other officials in his administration.
"Today, in the company of senior County Government officials, I made an impromptu visit to Nyamira Teaching and Referral Hospital to access the situation and monitor the progress of service delivery," wrote Nyagarama in a post shared on his Facebook page.
The governor's update was struck off by netizens familiar with the conditions at the facility and ills bedevilling the county's health sector.
Top on the user's concerns was the prolonged nurses and medics strike that was spawned by delayed salaries.
In the past three months, regular medical services in Nyamira had been grounded after medics and other staff decided to keep away from their workstations because of non-payment of salaries.
The doctors and nurses took the governor to court seeking legal intervention in resolving the stalemate but they are yet to receive their June and July salaries.
The county is still withholding their salaries awaiting the full determination of the matter.
According to the county communications boss Miller Atuya, all healthcare providers had resumed work as at last week Friday.
Atuya told Kenyans.co.ke that Governor Nyagarama had signed a return to work formula for Clinical officers on Friday and that they were last to shelve the go-slow.
In his visit, Nyagarama assessed medical equipment at the Nyamira Teaching and Referral Hospital and the ongoing construction of the facility's theatre.
The construction works are scheduled for completion in December or soon thereafter.
