West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo Makes Cabinet Reshuffle

West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo has relieved his Deputy Governor Nicholas Atudonyang' of the Health County Executive Committee (CEC) member post.

The governor made the changes in a cabinet shuffle that came barely a week after Lonyangapuo was grilled at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) offices in Eldoret.

According to EACC, the county boss was grilled after it emerged that his deputy has a full-time job in a foreign country yet continues to be salaried by the County Government for no services rendered.

Reports indicated that Atudonyang' works as a neurosurgeon in Texas and left the country immediately he was sworn in after the August 2017 elections.

The West Pokot Governor, however, dismissed claims of corruption alleging that his deputy had gone to purchase medical equipment and will be returning on Thursday.

"He is coming with two 40-meter trailer containers of medical equipment and 500 laptops which have landed at Mombasa," Lonyangapuo stated.

According to the usnews.com, Dr Atudonyang is a family medicine practitioner in Allen, Texas. However, Lonyangapuo still pays him as his deputy.

Announcing the changes, the West Pokot Governor appointed Geoffrey Lipale as the new Health and Sanitation CEC.

The Governor reshuffled all CECs to different departments saying the move is aimed at strengthening his cabinet.

The West Pokot County Government whose headquarters are located in Kapenguria town has twenty departments.
