MTRH CEO Wilson Aruasa Issues Update on Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr's Condition

Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) CEO Wilson Aruasa on Wednesday spoke to the press concerning Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo who had earlier been rushed to the hospital.

Aruasa sought to assure the public that the Senator was fine, noting that he would have to spend a night at the facility.

He explained that Mutula choked on a piece of fried chicken and an endoscopy was conducted after which the chicken was removed.

Mutula was having lunch at a hotel shortly after wrapping up a morning session with the Nandi County Assembly.

"When he arrived we found out he had a foreign body in the oesophagus, the food pipe.

"He was rushed to the theatre straight away where upon doing an endoscopy...the foreign body discovered was a piece of fried chicken, it was removed successfully," Aruasa stated.

Aruasa also thanked the Senate for having trust in the services offered at MTHRH.

The Senator was first taken to the Nandi County Teaching and Referral Hospital.

Mutula dismissed several reports on his condition on social media as 'fake news', asserting that he was fine.

"I am well. I did not collapse," he tweeted.
