NTV Makes Changes on Its Popular Programs

NTV has starting this month implemented changes on its programs affecting mostly new and current affairs segments on weekdays.

In the new program lineup, NTV editorial heads have moved its afternoon's NTV Sasa, meant for updates on news and current affairs in Swahili to the mid-morning hours.

NTV Sasa previously airing after the 1 O'clock news has been moved to 11 a.m and shall run to 1 p.m.

The morning hours programs; AM Live and the lifestyle segment dubbed Living With Ess have been retained and will be followed by NTV Today whose team takes over the screens at 9 a.m for two hours before paving way for the Swahili team.

The changes, NTV indicated, were aimed at ensuring viewers were kept up-to-date with news and current affairs in what appears as an effort to counter rivals, Citizen TV and KTN News.

With both KTN News and Citizen having Swahili programs in the mid-morning hours, Mediamax's K24 shall remain the only one with English current affairs broadcast among the top four with its The Daily Brief that runs from 10:00 a.m to 1:30 p.m.

NTV Sasa shall now jostle for viewership competing with Sema na Citizen and KTN New's Leo Mashinani.

On Monday afternoon, NTV aired a Churchill Show special edition at 2:00 p.m after a thrilling half-an-hour with Being Bahati.

At this time, Royal Media's Citizen TV airs West African movies in the segment popularly known as Afrocinema, similar to KTN Home's Afriscreen.

NTV's changes came with the announcement of former KETRACO General Manager Richard Oitu Tobiko as the group finance director.

Tobiko has more than 20 years of experience in finance management and accounting operations. He takes over office starting October 1, 2018.

He once served as the Chief Accountant for Nation Media Group from 2005 for three years.
