Renowned media personality Trevor Noah has poked fun at a Kenyan judge for temporarily lifting the ban on ‘Rafiki’ movie.
The comedian ridiculed the judge for temporarily lifting the ban on the movie so it could be eligible for the Oscars Awards nomination.
“In a historic ruling, a judge in Kenya has lifted a ban on a lesbian film for one week because unless it is shown in theatre it is not eligible for the Oscars.

“I think it’s amazing how even homophobia bows down to the Academy awards,” Trevor Noah commented,” the Daily Show presenter remarked amidst laughter from his audience.
On September 21, Justice Wilfrida Okwany lifted the ban imposed by the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) for a week.
He went on further to make fun of how the government was against the film only to change its stand on hearing about Oscar's nomination.
“Homosexuality is an abomination to God’s word. What’s that? the Oscars? Play that film, I want to meet Meryl Streep!” he joked.
Despite the lifting of the ban, Rafiki film missed out the nomination as it failed to meet the Oscar Academy requirements.
The controversial movie had been submitted for an Oscar nomination under the Best Foreign Language Film category.
However, another Kenyan film, Supa Modo, was selected for the coveted awards.
Supa Modo is a film highlighting the challenges faced by a single mother and her family dealing with a terminally ill child.
