Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has revealed an intention to replace five members of his cabinet.
This is after an advertisement was flouted by City Hall indicating that five County Executive Committee (CECs) positions are now open for application.
According to Nairobi County Public Service Board chairman Philip Kungu, the Governor notified the body of his intention to recruit new CECs.
"The CEC members contracts have expired. He will seek to renew some of the contracts but will replace others. I don't know who they are or the sector they represent," the Board's chairman stated.
The Health and Devolution dockets are currently vacant after Sonko fired Hitan Majevdia and Ms Veska Kangongo.
However, it is unclear what other CEC posts Sonko intends to make reshuffles in following the advertisement.
"Let us not be presumptuous. The governor can seek to replace all of them if he wants to.
"That is up to him. We really cannot question that because it is his prerogative," Kungu stated.
The advertisement in the Nairobi County Public Service Board website called for competent and qualified individuals to apply for the positions.
Requirements for the applicants included knowledge in different fields such as economics, commerce, investment, law, engineering, finance and business administration and natural resources.
