Wanyama Gifts Kenya Fan His Jersey

Kenya national football team captain Victor Wanyama gifted a fan his national team jersey after the win against Ethiopia at Kasarani Stadium on Sunday.

The Tottenham Hotspurs star gifted Kenyatta University student Kelvin Kirwa his number 12 jersey after the learner posted a photo requesting for the jersey prior to the clash.

Wanyama, who scored from the spot after fellow team player Eric Johanna was brought down in the box, was substituted late in the second half after picking a knock.

The captain was instrumental in the midfield role during the second leg match as he helped the team maintain possession.

The former AFC Leopards player had sat out the second game against Ghana due to an injury he had sustained while playing for his club.

A loss at the hands of Sierra Leone last year had placed Kenya at a difficult place heading into the Ghana game.

The win against the "Walia's" took Kenya to the top of Group F and on course to qualify for the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Sierra Leone, who face Kenya next, were temporarily suspended from the qualifiers by Fifa after it was revealed that the government interfered with the running of the football association of the country.

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) president and secretary were removed from office over corruption claims.

Kenya last participated in the AFCON finals in 2004.
