Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) Chairperson Eliud Wabukala has revealed the millions of shillings recovered by the body in the renewed fight against graft.
Wabukala disclosed the Commission had recovered Ksh 352 million and prevented a loss of Ksh 2 billion through economic and corruption crimes.
The chairman was speaking during the launch of the National Integrity Academy at the KICD on Wednesday.
He further noted EACC was probing over 3,000 corruption reports involving officers in national and county governments.
"The commission have traced 14 irregularly acquired assets and the recovery of Ksh 2.3 billion is ongoing," Wabukala remarked.
In the previous financial year, EACC recovered Ksh 700 million out of a possible Ksh 93.3 billion.
The commission has also completed investigations into 183 corruption cases in the financial year 2017/2018.
According to 2017 annual report, the commission recorded 0.44 per cent success rate in recovery of public funds and assets.
In a recent study by the National Bureau of Economic Research, Kenya emerged number two globally in stolen funds.
The money which totals to about 70% of the country’s GDP has been stashed in offshore accounts. The study puts the country's looted funds stashed in offshore accounts and investments at $49 billion.
