DP Ruto Takes Action After Speech Interruption on Live TV by Faulty Generator

Deputy President William Ruto on Wednesday ordered the Ministry of Education to purchase a new generator for the Kenya Technical Trainers College (KTTC).

The directive by Ruto came after his speech, which was being aired live, was interrupted when the institution's generator failed to kick in after persistent power interruptions.

"I have ordered the ministry to ensure that a new generator is brought within two weeks so that it can begin working to avoid what we have experienced inside," stated Ruto.

Darkness engulfed the venue which the former Minister of Agriculture was addressing the Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) principals and stakeholders at the institution in Gigiri.

The Deputy President had to wait for a few minutes as repairs were done on the electrical machine.

Ruto further promised a new bus after the students complained that they lacked a proper one, with the current bus being regarded as too old.

"I have talked to your principal and an extra bus will be brought," remarked the Deputy President.

Before the incident, the DP had arrived late to the function after which he apologised and explained he was coming from a lesson at the University of Nairobi where he is a student.

"I wished to have been with you earlier but I was called by the head of department School of Biological Science, The University of Nairobi.

"I am a student there and you know as a student your lecturer comes first.

"I had to go there first to defend my thesis," explained DP Ruto.

A similar incident to the generator one was witnessed during the Mashujaa celebrations at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega, where the sound system failed as Leyla Mohamed was performing Wimbo wa Historia.
