President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday delivered an address at the Tony Elumelu Foundation Forum, one of the largest gatherings of African entrepreneurs in Lagos, Nigeria.
Uhuru challenged youth across the continent to tap into their creativity and come up with tools to effect change.
“Young innovative African leaders are fighting for positive change using technology.
“Be the best you can be for your families, communities, nations but most importantly for yourselves,” he stated.
Also present at the event was Ghanaian President Nana Akufo Addo.
Uhuru reiterated his advice to the youth to work towards becoming the very best in the fields they had chosen.
"Nothing we do here can replace your effort, you must meet challenges, seize opportunities & turn them into successes.
"You’re a generation that knows no borders in exploration. My message to you is be the best out there," he stated.
The Elumelu programme supports young African entrepreneurs in various ways including mentorship and providing grants.
Winners of various competitions at this year's forum received seed funding of $5000 dollars.
