President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Grandson Wins Ksh122M Karen Land Suit

A high court judge has upheld President Uhuru Kenyatta’s relative’s ownership of a piece of land in Karen worth Ksh122 million.

In the ruling, High Court Justice John Mativo found the case presented against Njomo Kamau by James Njoroge weak and not likely to compel the court to kick him out the land.

Njomo Kamau is the grandson to the Late President Uhuru’s step-sister Margaret Wambui.

In a lawsuit filed by Njoroge, the prime plot belonged to his late parents, Joseph Njuguna and Felista Wanjiru, but his mother sold it off in 1986 to other parties.

Njoroge further explained to the court that before his mother’s passing, she had handed him Ksh100,000 in an attempt to have him withdraw an earlier lawsuit he had filed in 1993.

Njomo, however, disputed the claim stating that his grandmother had acquired the land for Ksh1.5 million and that Njoroge’s father had left the property under his mother, and her lawyer, as per his will.

He also told the court that Njoroge had sold off a 10-acre piece of land his parents had given him.

Replying to the suit, Njoroge’s mother’s lawyer stated that before the passing of his father, he had divided his property for his children but had not completely handed over the documents.

That is when his mother took charge of the ownership of the disputed property.

This arguement consequently saw Justice Mativo dismiss the case.
