Orlando Jennings, a Recce squad officer, held in connection with the murder of the slain Monica Kimani was on Friday set free.
The decision was met after the investigating officer in charge of his case, Maxwel Otieno, dropped an earlier application to detain him.
Appearing before Principal Magistrate Stella Atembo, Jennings was asked to report to the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) every Wednesday for the next two months.
The suspect had been ordered to be detained for 14 days awaiting the completion of investigations.
Jennings was earlier turned into a state witness in the murder case with the advisement from the prosecution in his case.
He was arrested on October 18 in connection with the murder of the 28-year-old business woman whose mutilated body was found in her apartment in Kilimani.
The other suspects in the case include Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe and the key suspect Jowie Irungu.
The two have since been charged with murder and a future hearing is set for January 7 next year.
Jacque Maribe was on Wednesday released on Ksh2 million bond or Ksh1 million cash bail while Jowie was denied bail owing to his accessibility to guns and flight risk nature.
Issuing the ruling earlier in the week, Judge James Wakiaga described Jowie as a “woman eater” and a male version of a slay queen.
