Inside BBC's Luxurious Nairobi Studios

BBC on Monday launched its modernised News Regional Headquarters, Nairobi, which will also be its biggest studios in Africa.

The event was graced by Deputy President William Ruto and British High Commissioner to Nairobi Nic Hailey.

"The BBC has moved its Africa HQ here, employing 300 people and generating new content in new languages across Africa," Hailey remarked.

Photos seen by Kenyans.co.ke show state-of-the-art technology including Virtual Reality (VR) gear.

The Nairobi studio is the largest BBC bureau outside of the UK and will host close to 300 of the 600 BBC journalists working across Africa.

"Our most important investment will be in training the next generation of African reporters and producers to world-class standards," Francesca Unsworth, Director of BBC News.

The production facilities at the Nairobi bureau include a TV studio and two further live broadcast positions, two radio studios, two radio workspaces and five TV edit suites.
