Quack doctor Mugo Wairimu who has been on the run since the exposé on his clinic aired was apprehended on Tuesday evening.
DCI detectives confirmed that they had arrested Mugo in Gachie, Kiambu county following an intensive two-week search.
"Detectives have today evening arrested Mr. James Mugo Ndichu alias Dr. Mugo wa Wairimu; a quack doctor in Gachie, Kiambu after being on the run for almost two weeks. The quack doctor was being sought for running an illegal clinic among other offences," the DCI stated.
According to the sleuths, Mugo had evaded arrest by swapping SIM cards.
A detective attached to the Special Crimes Prevention Unit (SCPU) told the Nation that 12 mobile phones that the suspect was using had been tracked.
However, none of them was on in an effort to dodge the police.
“In one instance, we found the phone signal, followed it and found the gadget, but we could not find him,” the officer was quoted by the publication.
The Standard reported that Mugo was founding hiding in a house belonging to his cousin.
Head of Flying Squad Musa Yego added that they pounced on him at 7 PM and later detained him at Pangani Police Station.
“We will arraign him at the Milimani Law Courts Wednesday,” he divulged.
